Deacon & Trustee Profiles

Gregg Hanke, Deacon Candidate (EM)

  1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Gregg is Michigan born and raised. He moved to California in 1988. He has worked in various technical professions since then. I am single, never married.
  2. What do you do as occupation and what are your hobbies?
My present job title is Instrumentation Specialist. I do calibration, maintenance, and repair a pharmaceutical research laboratory instrumentation.  I have also worked in aerospace for about 17 years, as a senior assembler, prototype, assembler, test, engineer, quality, engineer, and product engineer.
  3. Why did you choose to accept the nomination to be a deacon?
Recently, I had been trying to figure out ways to serve the church in addition to simply running the soundboard on Sunday mornings. In the midst of these thoughts, I was praying that God would give me something to do. Then came the inquiries about becoming a deacon with no prompting from me.
  4. How did God speak to you through the process?
As referenced above. I was approached by two individuals in leadership, the church, one Deacon, and one elder.  God work with me, by Moving these two men to inquire with me about becoming a deacon. It happened the way that I prefer, someone approaching me, instead of me, trying to get into a position of leadership.
  5. What is one thing you look forward to the most as you serve as a deacon?
Looking forward to working with The men in the leadership of the church, and the opportunity to serve God and his people with the experience and gifts God has provided for edification of others.
  6. Do you anticipate any challenges ahead and how can we (the Church) pray for you?
This being a new chapter in my involvement at CCCTO, my greatest desire is to grow in God‘s wisdom. That is how people can pray for me, knowledge, discernment, understanding, and wisdom.

Solomon Cheng, Deacon Candidate (EM)

  1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I have been going to CCCTO for decades and have served as a deacon many years ago.
My wife, Michelle, and I have 3 kids: Katelyn, Annalise, Terena.
  2. What do you do as occupation and what are your hobbies?
I work in Camarillo for a company called Advanced Motion Controls. My hobbies include reading about car news.
  3. Why did you choose to accept the nomination to be a deacon?
God has blessed me and my family greatly.  I want to serve any way I can.
  4. How did God speak to you through the process?
The thought that comes to me many times is, “How have I been serving God lately?”
  5. What is one thing you look forward to the most as you serve as a deacon?
Serve the church as we move forward from the many changes and challenges in the past few years.
  6. Do you anticipate any challenges ahead and how can we (the Church) pray for you?
Yes, there will be challenges, but I don’t yet know what they will be.
Pray that we will rely on God when it comes.

Few questions we asked the current deacons:
1) Tell us about you and your family.
2) What do you do as an occupation and what are your hobbies?
3) Why did you choose to continue serving as a deacon for the next term?
4) Can you share one valuable lesson you learned from serving as a deacon?
5) How can the church pray for you?

  3. I love serving our Lord and I love our church and this is a difficult transitional time for our church as we continue to search for new pastors and directors.
  4. Through my service as a deacon, I learned how to appreciate the innerworkings of our church and to see God’s glory and grace as brothers and sisters each use their unique gifts for the good of our church.
  5. For God to continue to use me as His servant for his church even as I finish out my existing term as a deacon.

Why did you choose to accept the nomination to be a deacon?
I was called and I don’t want to find an excuse.

How did God speak to you through the process?
I didn’t receive the direct revelation from God. Rather as I perceive the aging and passing of saints during the pandemic, I felt the need to step up and do more. I believe it’s the work of the Holy Spirit.

What is one thing you look forward the most as you serve as a deacon?
Always looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of my faith, serve CCCTO with patience and endurance.

Do you anticipate any challenges ahead and how can we (the Church) pray for you?
Yes, God protects my family from the temptations of the evil one. And please pray for the cleansing of my fleshly desires and be a servant that pleases our Lord Jesus Christ.
